Test agreed websites and applications, including login, permissions, sessions, and data exposure.
Interpret a scoped test without turning a point-in-time finding into an assurance guarantee.

A test report should help leaders make a bounded decision. It should not become a general badge that the organization is secure.
A penetration test provides evidence about agreed targets, methods and conditions during a defined engagement. It is not a declaration that the organization is secure, and a report without severe findings is not proof that no severe weaknesses exist.
Before discussing the findings, confirm the environments, accounts, interfaces and methods included. Note exclusions, access limitations and operational restrictions. A test of one application does not automatically evaluate its cloud configuration, every API or the broader internal network.
Technical severity helps prioritize attention, but business context matters. Consider the affected asset, exposure, potential impact and compensating controls. Remediation or a documented exception needs an accountable owner; the tester should not be treated as the authority accepting your business risk.
A retest can evaluate the agreed remediation under specified conditions. It does not automatically expand the original scope or cover every subsequent change. Record what was checked, what remains open and when architectural or access changes may justify another assessment.
Present the purpose, boundaries, significant observations, remediation ownership and remaining uncertainty. Avoid a single pass/fail badge that hides limitations. NIST SP 800-115 provides technical testing and assessment guidance, but engagement-specific authorization and operational safety still need explicit agreement.
VioletX can help choose and scope testing across its nine catalogue categories. Tests, recurring coverage and retesting must be agreed rather than inferred from a general request for a pentest.
Relevant work is scoped to your systems, responsibilities, and decision boundaries.
Test agreed websites and applications, including login, permissions, sessions, and data exposure.
Test agreed API endpoints, authentication, authorization, input handling, and access to data.
Assess agreed cloud environments, permissions, configurations, and exposed resources.
Choose what to test, agree safe boundaries and understand what the findings can—and cannot—establish.
