Building VioletX
Why we built a Trust Operating System instead of another compliance tool, and what it means to operate trust at enterprise scale.

VioletX was founded with a specific diagnosis: the security and compliance industry is optimized for transactions, not outcomes. Vendors sell software licenses and consulting engagements. Auditors certify compliance at a point in time. Organizations implement tools and document policies. And every year, many of those organizations experience security incidents and audit failures that their compliance programs were supposed to prevent.
The problem is not that the frameworks are wrong or that the tools are ineffective. The problem is that compliance has been turned into a product purchase rather than an operational discipline. You cannot buy your way to trust. You have to operate your way there.
The Founding Insight
Megan Fulton founded VioletX after years working across the security and compliance industry — as a practitioner, an advisor, and a student of how organizations succeed and fail in building durable security programs. The pattern she identified was consistent: organizations that treated security as an operational function — something that ran continuously, maintained by practitioners who were accountable for outcomes — consistently outperformed organizations that treated it as a compliance project.
VioletX was designed to deliver the operational model that produces good outcomes. Not a platform. Not a methodology. An operating company that runs trust programs on behalf of its customers, takes responsibility for the results, and builds the kind of institutional knowledge and operational discipline that compliance projects cannot produce.
Why Los Angeles
VioletX is headquartered in Los Angeles — not Silicon Valley, not the Washington, DC security ecosystem, not New York. Los Angeles was a deliberate choice. The city is home to a rapidly growing technology sector, a significant defense and aerospace industry, and a talent community shaped by some of the country's leading research universities. It is a city that does not take for granted that the most important companies are built elsewhere.
Who VioletX Builds For
VioletX works with organizations at the inflection points where trust infrastructure becomes critical to the business. Companies entering enterprise markets and encountering security reviews for the first time. Companies preparing for acquisitions that require a credible, auditable security program. Companies in regulated industries that need to satisfy federal requirements. Companies that have tried to run compliance programs internally and found that the operational burden is too high to carry while also running a business.
- Series B through enterprise technology companies entering regulated markets
- Defense contractors navigating CMMC requirements
- Healthcare and financial services organizations with complex regulatory obligations
- Companies preparing for acquisition due diligence
- Organizations that have outgrown the compliance tools they started with
Where VioletX Is Going
VioletX is building the company that the security industry should have built a decade ago. An operating company that takes genuine accountability for trust outcomes. A company that competes on results rather than features. A company whose customers succeed in audits not because they were lucky or because they had exceptional internal teams, but because the system VioletX operates on their behalf is engineered to produce that result.
Trust. Engineered.
